More than a Campus: An Academic Village for Healthcare Excellence
A new model of healthcare education is flourishing in the heart of Ghana. At Martin Luther Health Training School–Kintampo (MLHTS-Kintampo), the vision of an Academic Village has become a reality. Situated on a scenic 30-acre campus, adjacent to the iconic Kintampo Waterfalls and uniquely enriched by its own natural waterfalls, MLHTS-Kintampo is redefining education by creating an inspiring environment where learning, innovation, and nature come together.
MLHTS-Kintampo is among the few institutions in Ghana offering a seamless educational journey from secondary school to university. Through its pioneering Dual Enrollment College Model, students of MLHTS Senior High School study the WASSCE curriculum alongside the internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum, while gaining early exposure to college-level learning. They can then transition seamlessly into the institution’s Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes in the School of Health Sciences, continuing their education within the same vibrant academic community.
Every programme is built on the institution’s guiding philosophy, the Be‑Know‑Do model. Students are shaped to be men and women of integrity, know through rigorous scholarship and scientific inquiry, and do by applying their knowledge with competence, compassion, and professionalism. Modern simulation laboratories, digital learning, STEM education, artificial intelligence and coding, research opportunities, and international partnerships prepare graduates to excel in both resource-limited and resource-rich healthcare environments.
More than a campus, MLHTS-Kintampo is a community of purpose where motivated students discover their potential, faculty inspire excellence, and innovation thrives. As this inaugural edition of CAMPUSWIDE is published, MLHTS-Kintampo proudly stands as Ghana’s Academic Village for Healthcare Excellence, setting new standards in health education while preparing graduates to serve their communities and the world with knowledge, character, and confidence.

Dear students, staff, alumni, partners and friends, welcome to CAMPUSWIDE, our maiden monthly newsletter! I’m excited to share our news and stories from across MLHTS–Kintampo. Our academic village covers 30 acres, with a natural waterfall and a shared purpose: preparing people to care for others.
Our organization is guided by the Be‑Know‑Do leadership philosophy and this outlines exactly what you can expect from us every day. Be means becoming someone patients can trust: honest, compassionate and responsible. Know means understanding the science behind care and asking questions. Do means turning knowledge into action through practical skills, sound decisions and public service.
The MLHTS Global Standard is our commitment to international best practices in teaching, facilities, research, student support and professional training. We want graduates who can deliver safe care in a rural clinic with limited supplies or a hospital with advanced technology. We welcome motivated students regardless of finances, background or faith, and we have developed a dual enrolment system allowing our high school students to begin tertiary studies.
Full tertiary institutional accreditation approval and successful programme accreditation visits made 2025/2026 a proud year for us. Beyond campus, our efforts include cleaning exercises with the Yale University Day of Service, a road adoption programme, a book club and Spelling Bee, the Lifestyle Study, and the forthcoming launch of the MLHTS Foundation. Welcome again to CAMPUSWIDE, where we share our story, celebrate our progress, and shape our future together!

What did you study and when did you graduate?
I studied Medical Laboratory Technology at MLHTS-Kintampo and graduated in 2025. My training gave me knowledge, practical skills, discipline, and confidence.
What are you doing now?
I work at 24/7 Standard BioLab, Kintampo, applying my training to provide reliable laboratory services.
What is your favourite MLHTS memory?
I cherish the practical sessions, group assignments, examinations, and friendships I built with classmates and lecturers.
What advice do you have for students?
Take your studies seriously, stay disciplined, embrace practical training, and never give up. Keep learning, keep growing, and make MLHTS proud!

Jibreel Umar Sidbe, MSc
Please introduce yourself and your role at MLHTS-Kintampo.
Hello! I’m Umar Sidbe Jibreel, Registrar of Martin Luther Health Training School, Kintampo. Being a Registrar goes beyond admissions, academic records, and examinations. For me, it is about supporting students from the day they enter Martin Luther until they successfully complete their training.
What makes Martin Luther Health Training School special?
MLHTS is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), while our professional programmes are accredited by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) and the Pharmacy Council. We are affiliated with KNUST & CTVET and are finalizing accreditation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC). We combine classroom teaching with practical training so students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional attitude needed in the health sector.
How is MLHTS improving the student experience?
Technology is becoming an important part of how we serve our students. Through the MLHTS Student Portal, students can conveniently access important academic information and services, and we continue to strengthen our systems.
What opportunities do students have beyond the classroom?
Student life is not only about lectures and examinations. Students benefit from scholarships, practical and clinical experiences, leadership through the SRC, sporting and social activities, SRC Week celebrations, and other professional development opportunities — building confidence, leadership skills, friendships, and professional networks.
What would you consider one of the School’s greatest achievements?
The students and graduates we continue to prepare for the health sector. Seeing a student enter MLHTS with a dream and leave with greater knowledge, practical skills, confidence, and a clear career direction is something we are very proud of.
What makes your work as Registrar meaningful to you?
Every admission, examination, result, student enquiry, and graduation represents someone’s future. Being part of that journey is what makes my role meaningful. We are not only preparing students to graduate; we are helping them build the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need for the future.

Why MLHTS?
I chose Martin Luther because I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, especially pharmacy. The school gives me both academic knowledge and practical skills for my future career.
Favourite place on campus?
Under the mango trees — a peaceful place to relax, think, and enjoy some quiet time.
My dream?
To work in the pharmaceutical industry and build a career in medicine production. At MLHTS, I’m learning, growing, and getting closer to my dream.

Kintampo: A Great Place to Learn and Explore
Welcome to the centre of Ghana, Kintampo, where Ghana comes together! The town has a monument marking the centre of Ghana, but its real spirit comes from its people. Families from many parts of Ghana live, work and learn here — different languages, foods and customs mixing in daily life. Think of it as a little taste of Ghana in one friendly town.
Kintampo is a college town with big dreams. The government’s College of Health and Well-Being and the privately owned MLHTS–Kintampo help make it a lively place to learn. MLHTS brings a global outlook, with international ties through many universities and colleges in the USA. It’s a place to study hard, make friends, feel at home and plan your future.
Ready for an adventure? Kintampo Waterfalls and nearby Fuller Falls bring rushing water, fresh air and beautiful views. Further afield, the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary offers a chance to watch monkeys in their forest home. The nearby Kunsu slave caves tell a much sadder story, reminding us to respect the past and value every person’s freedom.
MLHTS–Kintampo is proud and happy to call this town home. Our campus covers 30 acres and even has its own natural waterfall. We are grateful to be part of a community where learning, nature and different cultures meet. As our school grows, we want to help Kintampo grow, too. Come learn, explore and belong!
