From the President

President's Message

On behalf of Dr. Maame Akyaa Duah Agbenyikey and myself, I extend a heartfelt welcome to you to Martin Luther Health Training School (MLHTS), Kintampo. We are delighted that you are exploring the opportunities our institution offers in healthcare education, research, leadership, and community service.

At MLHTS-Kintampo, our mission is built on a foundation of not-for-profit education and a deep commitment to serving underserved communities. We believe in the power of communalism and actively work to expand access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural and resource-deprived communities. Our guiding principles draw inspiration from the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., together with our Be–Know–Do leadership philosophy, through which we develop character, knowledge, practical competence, service, and leadership in our students.

Central to this mission are the George Agbenyikey Memorial Adopt-A-Student Scholarship and the George Agbenyikey Memorial Scholarship Fund. Our ambitious goal is to provide scholarships and financial assistance to at least 70% of our students within the next five years, ensuring that motivated students are not denied quality education simply because of their financial circumstances.

These scholarships are primarily supported by the Martin Luther Health Training Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation based in Maryland, USA. We warmly invite individuals, families, alumni, businesses, and organizations to support the Foundation. Your donation can directly help a student pay for tuition, books, accommodation, food, healthcare, and other essential educational needs. Every contribution, regardless of size, can open the door to an education and change a life.

We also invite you to participate in our ongoing Lifestyle Study, which explores the impact of lifestyle and social practices on health outcomes within our community.

The establishment of MLHTS in Kintampo holds special significance for my family and me. More than 30 years ago, my father acquired property in Kyeremankuma, Kintampo, with the dream of establishing an eye clinic to serve the community. Sadly, that dream remained unfulfilled following his passing. To honor his legacy and carry his vision forward, this health training school was established to bring healthcare education and services closer to the people of Kintampo and surrounding communities.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Hon. Dr. Owusu Duah for his invaluable guidance and unwavering support in the establishment of this institution.

I invite you to explore our website, learn about our academic programs, support our scholarship mission, and become part of the growing MLHTS-Kintampo family. Come experience our beautiful 30-acre campus adjacent to the Kintampo Waterfalls, where the Pumpu Creek flows through our grounds and forms our own natural waterfall, affectionately known as “Martin Luther Falls.” We also invite you to learn about our road adoption and community service program, through which our students and partners promote road safety and community well-being along the Kintampo corridor.

Together, we can make quality education possible for every motivated student, regardless of their ability to pay.
