Over 40 second-year students toured the Seth Owusu-Agyei Medical Laboratory at the Kintampo Health Research Centre, connecting classroom theory to real laboratory practice.
The educational tour gave students a first-hand look at how a nationally significant research laboratory operates, from sample collection and processing to advanced diagnostic techniques and quality assurance procedures.
Research centre staff guided the students through the various sections of the laboratory, explaining the equipment used, the types of studies conducted, and the role of laboratory science in public health research.
“Seeing these techniques in a real research environment makes everything we’ve been learning in class come alive,” said one student. “It’s inspiring to know that this kind of work is happening right here in Kintampo.”
The school regularly organises such tours as part of its commitment to practical, experiential learning. Partnerships with institutions like the Kintampo Health Research Centre provide students with exposure to real-world healthcare and research settings that complement their academic training.
