This two-year program is designed to provide students with basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to enter the health care system as a Practical Nurse (Enrolled Nurses). Students develop knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for all age groups. A focus is placed on the ability to communicate in caring and treatment manner.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The school will follow the entry requirement set by the Nursing and Midwives Council of Ghana. The school welcomes graduates from second cycle institutions-SSSCCE and WASSCE.
(i) For SSSCE Candidates
An aggregate score of twenty-seven (27 ) or better,
comprising (A-D) in three (3) Core Subjects, i.e. ENGLISH,
MATHEMATICS, and INTEGRATED SCIENCE and (A=E ) in any three
( 3 ) Elective subjects from a programme.
(ii) For WASSCE Candidates
An aggregate score of forty-two (42) or better,
comprising (A1-C6) in three (3) Core Subjects, i.e. ENGLISH,
MATHEMATICS, and INTEGRATED SCIENCE and (A1-E8 ) in any three ( 3 )
Elective subjects from a programme.
EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES:
Upon qualifying, nurse assistants will have job opportunities working closely with health care teams in a variety of community clinics, private homes, homes for the elderly, rehabilitative, medical, surgical and obstetric units. Nurse Assistants provide direct patient care to the ill, including vital sign assessment, patient intake assessment, direct patient care and health education.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
According to the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Council, students completing the program successfully must register with the Council and take a qualifying examination.
Programs are offered in English and are delivered using a variety of instruction modes. Courses may be offered in the classroom, lab, clinical environment and on-line.
Upon successful registration, each student is provided with various documentation, including ID cards, an e-mail account which is used to communicate important information about programme and course events.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This one-year program is designed to provide students with basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to enter the health care system as a Health Carer. Students develop knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care for all age groups. A focus is placed on the ability to communicate in caring and treatment manner.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
The school will follow the entry requirement set by the National Vocational and Training Institute (NVTI) of Ghana. The school welcomes graduates from second cycle institutions-SSSCCE and WASSCE.
(i) For SSSCE Candidates
An aggregate score of more than twenty-seven (27 )
(ii) For WASSCE Candidates
An aggregate score of more than forty-two (42) .
EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES:
Upon qualifying, health care assistants will have job opportunities working closely with health care teams in a variety of community clinics, private homes, and homes for the elderly, rehabilitative, medical, surgical and obstetric units. Health Care Assistants aid nurses, physicians and other health professionals in the delivery of direct care to patients. They may perform vital sign assessments, bed making, patient hygiene, patient room cleanliness, help patient’s walk, and may assist patient’s at home.
